Singhania & Partners boosts Regulatory and Government Advisory Practice as Varun Jain joins as a Partner

He held the position of head of government affairs and public policy, compute+ of Google India

Varun Jain has been added to the partnership by Singhania & Partners LLP in the firm's regulatory & government advisory practice and will support the corporate & commercial practice.

Jain has over two decades of experience in heavily-regulated industries including pharmaceuticals, big tech, medical devices, and aerospace spanning. He has led multinationals such as Google, Honeywell, Gilead, Medtronic, and Tata Consultancy Services.

Commenting on his appointment, Ravi Singhania, the managing partner at Singhania & Partners said, “Jain brings a strong track record of working on the intersection of law, policy, and regulation. In addition, he brings with him rich experience in government affairs with leading MNCs. I am sure his in-house experience will be a catalyst in the next phase for the firm as we align with the high growth trajectory of India, in dealing with public, private, and non-profit sector clientele.

Dipak Rao, the senior partner at the firm remarked, “We regularly receive requests from our clients, especially foreign companies, to support them in navigating the complex and federal regulatory environment in India. With Jain on board, we will be able to add more value to the execution of our clients' strategy as they foray into their business efforts in India.”

On joining Singhania & Partners, Jain stated, “A sound government and regulatory affairs strategy is now an essential aspect of any CXO’s toolkit. Given the unique leapfrogging, we are seeing across sectors in India, often regulatory clarity is lagging behind business innovation, which leads to much friction and ambiguity in the business-government interface. At Singhania & Partners, I am eager to assist our clients in shaping a government affairs strategy that simplifies policy interpretation, reduces surprises, and enables constructive dialogue.”

A 2015 law graduate of the University of Delhi, Jain has an MBA from the Indian School of Business (2003) and an MPA from the Harvard Kennedy School (2009).

Having served as a trustee at the Sanskriti Foundation, a pioneering platform for art and culture in Delhi, he has substantial exposure to non-profit governance, global philanthropy, CSR, ESG, and impact investing.
