Colin Bowes-Carlson Returns To Baker McKenzie As Partner In Chicago

Baker McKenzie has announced that Colin Bowes-Carlson, has rejoined Baker McKenzie as a Partner in Chicago, the firm announced today. Colin, formerly General Counsel at the Illinois Department of Revenue (IDOR), brings extensive experience in advising on complex cross-border transactions, reorganizations, and tax matters to Baker McKenzie's Global Transactional team. His return marks a significant addition to the firm, which has welcomed 20 partners since the beginning of the year.

Colin's practice focuses on guiding public and private companies through intricate transactional matters such as carve-outs, spinoffs, cash repatriation projects, and pre- and post-acquisition integrations. During his tenure at IDOR, Colin played a pivotal role in handling complex tax issues, providing strategic counsel on departmental policies and strategies. His deep understanding of tax regulations complements his transactional expertise, ensuring tax-efficient structures for clients in various jurisdictions.

Colin Bowes-Carlson, a Member of the Chicago Bar Association, the Lesbian and Gay Bar Association of Chicago, and the Illinois State Bar Association, rejoins Baker McKenzie in Chicago. Previously, he served as an associate at the firm from 2014 to 2021. Colin holds a BA in Economics & Legal Studies from Northwestern University and a JD from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, where he served as editor-in-chief of the Cardozo Journal of Law and Gender.
