Reed Smith adds Jamie Ryder with an eye on Middle East Entertainment Industry

He will join Reed Smith on July 3.

Jamie Ryder has joined Reed Smith’s Entertainment and Media industry group in Dubai, as the firm extends its practice in the Middle East region.

Ryder represents a number of leading broadcasters and media organizations in the region. He advised film studios including Paramount Pictures on the production and location arrangements for some of the Mission Impossible and Star Trek films. Jamie has also advised Etihad on its sponsorship of Manchester City.

Elle Todd, the Co-Chair of Reed Smith’s Entertainment and Media Industry group remarked, “Ryder is a leading Entertainment and Media lawyer in the region and is already well known to many of our clients. He fits the bill perfectly and we are thrilled to have him with us.”

Sachin Kerur, the Managing Partner of Reed Smith’s Middle East offices said that Ryder is a “standout name in the market” and brings with him new capabilities and industry focus.

Ryder has spent over 14 years at DLA Piper, serving as a Partner and head of its Intellectual Property and Technology Practice in the Middle East. He has been ranked in Chamber & Partners for more than eight years and is listed as a ‘next generation partner’ by Legal 500.

Comprising over 100 lawyers worldwide, Reed Smith recently disclosed that it was letting go of lawyers and staff equating to “less than 2 percent” of its workforce. The move was to put down to a “reduced level of demand for legal services across the industry.”
