Nicolette Kost De Sèvres has joined McDermott Will & Emery to co-head its global investigations and compliance group. She brings over 20 years of experience in compliance, white-collar crime, and financial regulation, including positions at Mayer Brown, DLA Piper, NYSE Euronext, and the Royal Bank of Scotland.
Steve Scholes, head of McDermott's disputes practice said: "Nicolette is a top-rated practitioner with an excellent reputation in the industry, and she is an outstanding strategic thinker. As such, she will be able to provide the highest level of support to our clients' growing compliance needs."
Nicolette Kost De Sèvres will co-head McDermott Will & Emery's global investigations and compliance group with Simon Airey in London. Airey stated that Kost De Sèvres' extensive international experience will enhance the firm's cross-border work.
Before joining NYSE Euronext in 2009, Kost De Sèvres had a two-year experience as general counsel for corporate affairs at Transat AT in Montreal and earlier worked for financial institutions and regulators in Quebec. She also served as the chair of the Young Bar of Montreal and the Quebec chapter of the Canadian Corporate Counsel Association.
Kost De Sèvres is an expert in compliance issues from Canadian, US, UK, and EU perspectives. Her experience includes handling complex multinational bribery and corruption cases, money laundering investigations, and managing regulatory responses.
She also advises clients on risk management and transactional due diligence, thus minimising potential contractual and supply chain risks.
Kost De Sèvres has represented clients in audits, investigations, and regulatory proceedings in France, the EU, Canada, and the US, both as an advocate and an advisor. Her clients primarily consist of corporate banks and financial institutions. She has a background in fintech, having co-headed DLA Piper's global fintech practice, and is aware of how white-collar issues intersect with ESG obligations across all business sectors.
Kost De Sèvres said she was "truly excited about contributing to the trajectory of [McDermott's] global investigations and compliance practice".
