Baker Botts Announces Key Promotions, Including Rakan Alyusuf As New Counsel In KSA

Baker Botts has announced the promotion of 12 attorneys to partner and three to special counsel, effective January 1, 2025. The promotions reflect the firm’s commitment to nurturing talent and reinforcing its position as a leader in various legal fields.

Among the promotions is Rakan Alyusuf, who has been elevated to counsel in the Riyadh office. Alyusuf, a skilled corporate and capital markets attorney, has extensive experience advising on IPOs, public mergers and acquisitions (M&A), equity and debt issues, and joint ventures. He is also proficient in representing clients before the General Authority for Competition in merger control filings and compliance investigations. Alyusuf is one of three new counsels promoted across the firm’s global offices.

The majority of the partner promotions were made across the firm’s U.S. offices, where Baker Botts is headquartered. The promoted partners specialize in a variety of practice areas, including corporate, litigation, tax, intellectual property, and projects.
