Gibson Dunn Strengthens Middle East Practice with Appointment of Laleh Shahabi in Abu Dhabi
Laleh Shahabi, a banking and finance partner, has been appointed by the esteemed US-based global law firm Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP. She will be joining the firm's recently established Abu Dhabi office located in the United Arab Emirates.
Shahabi's appointment is part of the firm's significant investment and expansion plans in the Middle East.
The expansion process was first announced last month when the firm revealed the establishment of its Abu Dhabi office and the recruitment of partners Renad Younes and Samuel Ogunlaja in Abu Dhabi, as well as Jade Chu in Dubai.
In addition, the firm welcomed capital markets partner Marwan Elaraby to its Dubai office last October and promoted two Dubai-based lawyers, private equity lawyer Hanna Chalhoub and international arbitration lawyer Nooree Moola, to its partnership earlier this year.
"We are seeing tremendous client demand and opportunities in the region and the hiring of Laleh, who is an accomplished banking and finance partner with experience working with corporate sponsors, financial institutions, and government entities, is a continuation of the investment the firm is making in the region to further strengthen our offering on the ground," Renad Younes, Partner-In-Charge of Gibson Dunn's Abu Dhabi office, said.
With a wealth of experience in representing a diverse range of clients, including corporate sponsors, governments, financial institutions, and government-related entities, Shahabi specialises in advising on an extensive variety of banking and financing transactions. Her areas of expertise include project financing and refinancing, direct lending, investment-grade corporate financing, as well as leveraged and acquisition financing.
Shahabi's practice also places particular emphasis on the transitional energy, renewables, and oil and gas sectors, and she has advised on numerous financing transactions in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.
