Lorie Almon, New York co-managing partner, will succeed Pete Miller next year.
Am Law 100 firm Seyfarth has named Lorie Almon as its next Chair and Managing Partner. She will be the firm's first female leader in its 77-year history.
Almon, a labour and employment partner, will start serving as chair-elect along with current chair and managing partner Pete Miller until his retirement in the later part of 2023.
"I am excited that Lorie has been chosen to lead us to new heights. Her experience in handling complex matters for some of the world's leading companies makes her ideally suited to guide the firm, in conjunction with our executive committee, through the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead in the coming years." stated Miller.
Having joined Seyfarth in 1998, Lorie has been the co-managing partner of its New York office since 2005, currently serving in the role alongside tax partner John Napoli. She also serves on the executive and compensation committees of the firm, along with the labour and employment leadership team.
Almon has been named as the best labour and employment litigation lawyer by publications like Chambers USA and The Legal 500. Her practice is based on complex claims litigation and she has served as lead counsel in discrimination class actions, wage hour cases and FINRA arbitrations.
She was earlier working as an assistant corporate counsel for the New York City Law Department.
Lorie stated that she was delighted to be given the chance to lead the firm. "Seyfarth is in a very good place today thanks to the leadership of Pete Miller and our executive committee, and the hard work and dedication of our team of lawyers and professionals across the globe,", she added.
Miller was appointed managing partner of the firm in 2013 and elevated to the position of Chair three years later. Under his leadership, the firm has expanded to 17 offices, over 900 lawyers, and annual revenue of more than $850 million. The company first opened its doors in Hong Kong in 2017, followed by offices in Charlotte and Seattle in the subsequent years.
According to Seyfarth, Lorie as Chair and Managing Partner, will supervise international operations and be fully accountable for the firm's leadership, direction, expansion, profit growth, and culture.
