Dentons has hired Siobhan Carlin as a partner to bolster its finance bench in Dublin. She is the latest in a series of lateral hires by the global giant in Ireland from top local firms.

Carlin was a partner at William Fry for over a decade, serving in the banking and finance department. Linklaters trained and dual-qualified, her practice focuses on real estate investments and development finance as well as project finance transactions. Her clients span financial institutions, alternative lenders, sponsors, private equity houses, institutional investors, and semi-state entities.

Paul Jarvis, the CEO at Dentons' UK, Ireland, and Middle East (UKIME) region, said, "Carlin's recruitment was consistent with our vision for Dublin, which has been identified as a specific area of growth in our new five-year strategy."

Dentons had hired partners Eavan Saunders from William Fry and Peter O'Brien from Matheson to set up its Dublin office in 2020. The move was a striking departure from its standard policy of entering new jurisdictions by way of combinations.

Elliott Portnoy, the global chief executive officer at Dentons had then remarked that it was rational for the firm to launch its own office rather than combine with a local outfit. He opined that even the strongest firms in Ireland relied on referrals from firms outside of London.
