Charles Russell Speechlys Expands Singapore Team With New Corporate Partner
Charles Russell Speechlys (CRS), a private client-focused law firm, has further strengthened its Singapore office with the appointment of Corporate Lawyer Tun Zaw Mra as a Partner. Tun joins from Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner (BCLP), marking the latest addition to CRS’s growing presence in Asia.
This move is part of CRS's ongoing expansion in the region, which has seen significant growth in recent years. In 2023, the firm launched its Singapore office and further bolstered it with the recruitment of Disputes Partner Peter Brabant and a four-member Tax Team led by former Butler Snow lawyers Kurt Rademacher and Ivan Lu.
The firm’s Hong Kong office has also seen recent growth, with the addition of Family Law Partner Vanessa Duff, Disputes Partner Stephen Chan, and Corporate Partner Shirley Fu, who brought a team of four lawyers following the closure of her firm, SF Lawyers, KPMG’s law firm in Hong Kong.
Tun brings over 14 years of experience in M&A and corporate transactions across the UK, Europe, and Asia-Pacific. His expertise includes advising clients on investments, mergers, acquisitions, disposals, and joint ventures, particularly in sectors such as real estate, energy, natural resources, and financial services.
Tun joined the pre-merger Berwin Leighton Paisner in 2015 and became a Partner at BCLP in 2023. Before that, he held associate roles at Baker McKenzie and Herbert Smith Freehills. He also serves as a Director of the Myanmar Private Equity & Venture Capital Association and has played a key role in advising on the drafting of Myanmar’s Companies Law 2017.
Simon Green, Partner and Head of Asia at CRS, commented, “Tun’s appointment reflects our commitment to growing the Singapore office and expanding our presence in the Asia Pacific region. His expertise will be crucial as we look to capitalize on opportunities in M&A and corporate work as part of our broader global strategy.”
David Collins, Partner responsible for CRS' Business Advisory & Transaction Services Division, added, “Following the recruitment of Shirley Fu and her team in Hong Kong, we have been focused on enhancing our corporate M&A capabilities in Singapore. Tun’s extensive experience and strong reputation in the market make him an excellent addition to the team, and we look forward to working with him to further strengthen our service offerings to clients across our international offices.”
With Tun’s appointment, CRS now has seven Partners in its Singapore office.
