Friederike Rotsch Joins Deutsche Bank as General Counsel

Deutsche Bank has announced that Dr. Friederike Rotsch will assume the role of General Counsel for the bank, starting from September 5, 2023. Rotsch will be stationed in Frankfurt and will report to Stefan Simon, the Management Board Member, and Chief Administrative Officer.

Rotsch will replace Karen Kuder, who has taken up the position of Chief Administrative Officer at DWS.

Stefan Simon stated that Friederike is widely recognised in Germany as an experienced and well-regarded General Counsel.

“We assessed a broad and diverse range of candidates, across industries and regions, and she was the outstanding choice to take our Legal department forward. I look forward to working with Friederike to develop our advisory capabilities further and support the sustainable growth ambitions of the bank,” Simon said in a statement.

Friederike Rotsch expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to be a part of a renowned German institution with a significant legacy and promising prospects in the financial industry.

“I have followed the transformation of Deutsche Bank as an interested observer for a number of years and am now keen to contribute to its next chapter of remarkable progress,” Rotsch said.

Having led a global team of experts as the Group General Counsel and Head of Group Legal & Compliance at Merck, a prominent science and technology company, Rotsch now joins Deutsche Bank.

With over nine years of experience in these roles, Rotsch is a proficient and accomplished lawyer with extensive knowledge in corporate law, governance, M&A, capital markets, and dispute resolution. Furthermore, since 2018, she has served on the Supervisory Board of SAP and held the position of Lead Independent Director since 2022.
