Amit Ganatra has joined Khaitan & Co as Executive Director in the Direct Tax and Private Client Practice in Kolkata.
With over 19 years of experience in domestic and international tax, Amit specializes in tax advisory, compliance, tax litigation, and treaty taxation. He is also an expert in structuring transactions from a tax perspective in mergers, demergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and cross-border deals.
On his joining, Amar Sinhji, the executive director remarked, “We are very pleased to welcome Ganatra to our firm. Our direct tax and private client practice in the East has deep relationships. His joining will help strengthen those relationships, build new ones, and contribute to growing the practice nationally.”
Amit has advised some of the top Indian conglomerates, including the largest steel producers and companies engaged in healthcare software development, real estate, and coal handling. He represents clients before the Central Board of Direct Taxes, the Commissioner of Income Tax, and the Tax Appellate Tribunal.
Having graduated in commerce from St. Xavier's College, Kolkata, AMit is a chartered accountant.
He previously served as a partner at BDO India LLP for nearly three years and was responsible for building and driving the tax practice in eastern India.
