Nishimura & Asahi Expands Domestic Footprint with New Sapporo Office
Japan's biggest law firm Nishimura & Asahi, has plans to establish a new office in Sapporo, located on northern Hokkaido Island. This will be the company's fifth office in Japan, following Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, and Fukuoka.
With a focus on rapidly emerging practice areas globally, the Sapporo office will offer support in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG), Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), and other sustainability initiatives.
Additionally, the office will assist with cross-border matters that require multi-jurisdictional capabilities.
Although the new office will strengthen Nishimura's domestic offerings, the company has primarily focused on expanding overseas in the past decade. In January of this year, for instance, Nishimura extended its reach to Malaysia through a strategic alliance with the local firm WM Leong & Co.
