Osborne Clarke Advised Ecotricity On The Consent For The Heckington Fen Solar Park DCO

Osborne Clarke advised Ecotricity, the UK’s greenest energy company, on securing development consent for the Heckington Fen Energy Park—a 500MW solar farm with 400MW battery storage located in Lincolnshire.

The consent was granted through a Development Consent Order (DCO) in January 2025, with Osborne Clarke providing comprehensive support for over three years, guiding Ecotricity from the optioneering and pre-application stages through to the successful close of the DCO Examination—one month ahead of schedule.

Once operational, the Heckington Fen solar park will provide clean energy to over 100,000 homes, playing a pivotal role in helping the UK meet its Net Zero targets. This project demonstrates Osborne Clarke’s ongoing commitment to supporting the energy transition and its capability in navigating complex infrastructure consent processes.

The Osborne Clarke team was led by Neil Bromwich (Partner and Head of Energy & Infrastructure Planning) and Josh Taylor (Associate Director), supported by senior associates Arthur Hopkinson, Julian Wolfgramm-King, and associate Lauren Gardner.
