Weil Names New Co-Managing Partners in Washington, D.C. office

International law firm Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP has announced the appointment of Chantale Fiebig and Jeff White as co-managing partners of the Washington, D.C. office. They will take over from Steven Tyrrell, who has led the office for the past decade to impressive growth and will continue to lead the White Collar Defense, Regulatory and Investigations practice.

Weil executive partner Barry Wolf congratulated Tyrrell on behalf of the firm for his many years of outstanding service as the managing partner of the D.C. office and said: "The office has thrived under his leadership by welcoming strategic lateral hires, building out new practice areas and strengthening cross-practice integration. We are delighted that Chantale and Jeff have agreed to take the helm in Washington during this exciting time of continued growth and expansion."

Chantale Fiebig is a partner in Weil's Complex Commercial Litigation practice and is a known trial lawyer and crisis counsellor. She represents global companies in commercial business disputes and class actions in state and federal court.

Jeff White has become a partner in Weil's global Antitrust/Competition practice and advises on all aspects of antitrust law, including guiding companies through the merger review process in global M&A transactions, government investigations, and private litigation.

Both of them have been appointed as Co-Managing Partners of the Washington, D.C. office, effective January 1, 2023.

In addition to the appointments of Fiebig and White, Weil has also appointed new leaders across its global Antitrust/Competition practice, with effect from January 1, 2023. In Washington, D.C, partners Brianne Kucerik, Michael Moiseyev, and Jeffrey Perry have been named co-heads of the US practice, while partner Steven Newborn is now chair of Weil's global Antitrust/Competition practice, based in Washington, D.C.

These new appointments and changes are part of Weil's ongoing efforts to expand and strengthen its leadership in the Washington D.C. office. The firm has made several strategic expansion and leadership appointments in the past year, including the addition of Mark A. Perry as co-head of the Appeals and Strategic Counseling practice alongside partners Zack Tripp in the D.C. office and Gregory Silbert in its New York office.

The firm has also strengthened its litigation capabilities with the recent addition of partner Andrew Tulumello as co-head of the Complex Commercial Litigation practice in Washington, D.C.

Fiebig termed Weil's Washington office as exceptional and added: "We have incredibly high-caliber lawyers who have successfully represented our clients on an impressive range of issues, including in multiple federal court trials, merger reviews before the federal regulatory agencies, and in the U.S. Supreme Court, all in just the last few months. Jeff and I are thrilled to lead the D.C. office going forward, as we continue to cement Weil's position as a premier firm in Washington."

White said that the increasing strength of the D.C. team stems from the synergies across the firm's practice groups and by finding new ways of working together,

"We continue to apply a 'one-Firm' strategy to our work and client relationships, which has expanded opportunities for different practices to counsel on both the transactional and litigation aspects of many recent, high-profile client matters. Our focus on active collaboration is also reflected in our inclusive approach to our people. Weil is committed to being a market leader in attracting and promoting diverse talent at all levels and practices," White added.
