US Legal Data Provider UnitedLex Hires Renee Meisel as First General Counsel

US legal data and professional services firm UnitedLex has appointed Renee Meisel as its first general counsel. She was working with the company in an interim capacity to establish its GC office.
In her official capacity, she will head its global legal function and oversee matters including commercial transactions, dispute resolution, compliance, privacy, and risk management.
On the development, James Schellhase, the CEO at UnitedLex remarked, “Meisel has built a career simplifying complicated legal issues into business-enabling operational solutions in both start-ups and global Fortune 500 companies.”

Meisel had set up PracticLaw early last year after quitting as chief operating officer at Breakwater Solutions. Before that, for four-and-a-half years, she served at the legal support services business Purpose Legal, wherein she later became the chief legal officer. For over a decade, she worked with Dell in several roles, including as legal director and senior legal operations director.
UnitedLex provides legal data analytics and other professional services to law firms and in-house legal teams in areas including litigation, intellectual property, contracts, compliance, and legal operations. It operates in 26 jurisdictions globally and has a quarter of the Fortune 100 as clients.
