Trowers & Hamlins Bolsters Private Equity Team With Double Partner Hire
Trowers & Hamlins, a leading international law firm, announced the strategic recruitment of two private equity partners from Gateley Plc. Mark Metcalfe and Sarah Souter join Trowers & Hamlins in London to spearhead the firm's expansion into lower-to-mid-market private equity work.
Metcalfe and Souter are seasoned legal professionals with a long history of successful collaboration. They have worked together throughout their careers, first at BDB Pitmans and then at Gateley, which they joined in 2016. This continuity ensures a strong working relationship and fosters a seamless integration into Trowers & Hamlins' existing team.
Metcalfe brings a wealth of experience to the table. He boasts a proven track record in advising on all aspects of the private equity lifecycle, from initial investments to mergers and acquisitions. His focus on businesses in London and the South East further strengthens Trowers & Hamlins' regional capabilities.
Souter complements Metcalfe's expertise with a specialisation in early-stage investments. Her experience representing venture capital trusts and investee companies is particularly valuable for companies seeking guidance on initial investments, follow-on funding rounds, and restructuring.
This double hire signifies Trowers & Hamlins' commitment to expanding its presence in the private equity market, with a particular focus on the lower-to-mid-market segment. Tim Nye, Head of Corporate at Trowers & Hamlins, emphasised the importance of these appointments: "These appointments are just the first move in our ambitious plans to significantly grow the firm's offering in the PE market," Nye stated.
Metcalfe achieved partner status at Gateley in 2019. His expertise lies in advising businesses in London and the South East, particularly in the realm of mergers and acquisitions. He navigates the intricacies of funds, portfolio companies, management teams, and founders.
Souter, who ascended to partner at Gateley in 2021, specializes in representing venture capital trusts and investee companies. His focus spans initial investments, follow-on rounds, and restructuring matters.
