Clyde & Co has announced the appointment of Tom Bicknell as a partner in its global financial services regulatory practice in Dubai, marking his return to the firm after a seven-year hiatus.
Bicknell brings over nineteen years of experience as a financial services regulatory lawyer, advising multinational and regionally based companies throughout the Middle East and Asia-Pacific. His expertise lies in non-contentious financial services work, with a strong focus on managing large-scale and cross-border regulatory mandates for international and regional banks, insurers, intermediaries, and fund managers.
In addition to his extensive regulatory experience, Bicknell has a notable background in the emerging fintech sector within the Middle East. He has provided counsel to clients navigating the region’s shift towards a digital economy, supporting regulated digital asset and payments businesses in their market entry, guiding financial institutions through digital transformation, and assisting public entities in developing regulatory frameworks. Prior to rejoining Clyde & Co, he led the financial services practice at Pinsent Masons in the Middle East.
