Andrea Ferrari has embarked on a new and exciting chapter in his career, as announced on LinkedIn. He has been appointed as the Global Head of Compliance and Corporate Legal at Sandoz, a leading generics and biosimilar company.
This significant move comes after the recent spin-off of Sandoz from Novartis. This separation presents a unique opportunity for the Sandoz Legal and Compliance team to play a pivotal role in the company’s ambitious growth journey. Under Ferrari’s leadership, the team will strive to enhance Sandoz’s reputation as an industry leader through robust compliance and legal frameworks.
Having initially joined the company in 2021 as Head of Global Legal Functions, Ferrari’s expanded role reflects his proven leadership and extensive# experience.
Prior to his time at Sandoz, Ferrari’s career flourished at Takeda, a prominent pharmaceutical organisation. There, he ascended to the position of Vice President and General Counsel for Europe and Canada, demonstrating his ability to lead and manage a geographically dispersed team while overseeing a substantial budget. His impressive track record encompasses navigating intricate legal matters, shaping governance structures, and ensuring compliance across various regions.
Ferrari’s expertise extends far beyond the courtroom. He brings a unique blend of skills and experience to the table, covering environmental awareness, diversity and inclusion, and a deep understanding of the generic drugs sector.
Before taking on his current role, Ferrari honed his skills in the challenging and dynamic environment of private practice. He served as an Associate at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, where he handled a broad range of corporate matters, including mergers and acquisitions (M&A), private equity transactions, initial public offerings (IPOs) and commercial and marketing agreements
Ferrari also spent a year at Goldman Sachs, where he was seconded to the legal department of the Principal Investment Area. This experience exposed him to the complexities of international investments, further enriching his understanding of the global business landscape.
Returning to private practice, Ferrari joined DLA Piper as an Associate in the corporate department. This role allowed him to delve deeper into business law, project finance, intellectual property, and commercial litigation, solidifying his legal expertise across various areas.
Ferrari is a highly accomplished life-sciences lawyer boasting over 15 years of post-qualification experience including corporate, regulatory, commercial, and intellectual property legal matters. He possesses a unique blend of expertise honed through his diverse career path, spanning international law firms and global organisations as in-house counsel.
