Micron Bolsters Legal and Corporate Governance with Michael Ray as New Chief Legal Officer
Micron Technology, a pioneer in memory and storage technology, announced Monday the appointment of Michael Ray to lead its legal and corporate affairs as senior vice president, chief legal officer and corporate secretary.
Reporting directly to President & CEO Sanjay Mehrotra, Ray will oversee Micron's global legal, compliance, and IP functions, leading a team of legal professionals.
Ray brings impeccable legal credentials with him, built over nearly three decades. Notably, he led Western Digital's legal team for over 13 years, rising through the ranks from senior counsel to vice president of legal services before reaching the pinnacle as chief legal officer.
Before his tenure at Western Digital, Ray served as corporate counsel for the NYSE-listed Wynn's International, Inc., clerked for the US District Court, Central District of California, and practised labour and employment law at O'Melveny & Myers, LLP.
Sanjay Mehrotra praised Ray's extensive expertise, calling it invaluable as Micron strengthens its strategy and navigates complex business and market dynamics, all while upholding the highest ethical standards.
“I am confident that under Michael’s leadership, Micron will remain at the forefront of industry compliance and governance as we drive the opportunity to meet the growing demand for memory and further strengthen our position,” Mehrotra said.
“With a prominent role across memory and storage segments, Micron holds deep insights into data centres, edge computing and the broader ecosystem,” Ray said.
“The company is well poised for growth in the coming years, and I am excited about Micron’s future and to join its world-class team,” he added.
Ray's dedication extends beyond the legal realm, as he serves on the boards of South Coast Repertory Theatre and Boston College High School. This commitment to community complements his impressive academic pedigree, a bachelor's degree from Harvard College and a law degree from Harvard Law School.
