Hogan Lovells Adds Top Litigator Trenton H. Norris to San Francisco Team

Trenton H. Norris has been appointed as a partner in Hogan Lovells' Disputes practice in the San Francisco office, according to an announcement by the global law firm. Previously with Arnold & Porter, Norris is a prominent figure in class action and consumer litigation, with a focus on litigation under California's toxics and labeling law, Proposition 65.

Des Hogan, the global head of Hogan Lovells’ Disputes practice, termed Trent Norris as one of the top consumer product attorneys in the United States.

“His decision to join Hogan Lovells aligns well with our goal to continue to strengthen our nationally recognized class action and consumer litigation practice — particularly in key growth markets such as Northern California,” Des Hogan said.

Trenton H. Norris has extensive experience advising and defending companies on California's consumer protection laws and Proposition 65. He is well-versed in litigating complex scientific and technical disputes across various products, industries and technologies, such as foods and beverages, cosmetics, medical devices, electronics, vehicles, drugs, and agriculture.

Norris is also known for representing trade associations and joint defence groups in strategic counselling, litigation, and regulatory representation.

Patrick Michael, Hogan Lovells partner and Office Managing Partner for the firm’s San Francisco office called Norris a respected leader in their community. He said that they were excited to collaborate with him to further develop their footprint in Northern California.

“California is one of the most important markets in the country for consumer-related litigation, and Trent has distinguished himself as one of the foremost litigators in this competitive space. He and his team follow on the heels of partners Megan Nishikawa and Amber Trincado, who joined us last fall. Together, this group has significantly strengthened our commercial litigation capabilities in Northern California,” Patrick Michael added.

“I have long worked with and admired Hogan Lovells. The firm’s integrated global practice, combined with its leading food regulatory practice, as well as other regulatory strengths, make Hogan Lovells an ideal place to continue to expand my practice. I am excited at the growth opportunities here in Northern California, as well as nationally and globally,” Norris said on his decision to join the firm.

At his previous firm, Norris held several leadership roles and remains committed to his pro bono practice, with a focus on supporting the LGBTQ+ community. He is a registered lobbyist with the California Environmental Protection Agency and previously worked as a legislative aide for a US senator.

Norris holds a J.D. from Harvard Law School, where he served as Editor of the Harvard Law Review, and graduated magna cum laude from Brown University with a B.A. in Computer Science.
