DLA Piper Welcomes Three New Partners to Bolster Energy and Infrastructure Practices

Global law firm DLA Piper has announced the appointment of three new partners who will bolster both its Energy and Infrastructure sectors. The trio of new partners include Steven Bryan, Derwin Jenkinson and Paul Doris.

Bryan, who was most recently a partner at Paul Hastings, has joined the firm’s London Corporate practice, while Jenkinson, also most recently a partner at Paul Hastings, has joined the Finance, Projects and Restructuring (FPR) practice. Additionally, Doris has transitioned to the firm from Brown Rudnick to join the London Corporate practice.

Bryan, a market-leading energy and infrastructure M&A partner, joined the firm's London Corporate practice in late February. He brings extensive experience advising investment funds and corporate sponsors on private and public M&A transactions, both domestically and internationally, across various sectors like power and utilities (including clean energy), digital infrastructure, midstream energy (pipelines, storage, transmission, and distribution), transportation, and social infrastructure. Prior to joining DLA Piper, Steven led the infrastructure team at Hogan Lovells.

Jenkinson, joining on February 22, 2024, is a market-leading energy and infrastructure finance partner. He has advised on high-profile matters across the same sectors, working on various aspects of the capital structure, including acquisition and term debt, project finance, capital markets, structured finance, and restructurings/special situations.

Notably, Bryan and Jenkinson collaborated closely at their previous firm, targeting work from infrastructure funds and other clients. Their combined expertise strengthens DLA Piper's existing capabilities, creating a compelling proposition for clients in the energy and infrastructure sectors.

Doris, starting on March 4, brings nine years of experience advising on UK and international M&A, private equity, and private capital transactions. He has particular expertise in renewable energy transactions, aligning perfectly with DLA Piper's focus on ESG initiatives and strategy. This positions him well to advise on transformational projects and transactions in this growing sector.

The new appointments are welcomed by Benjamin Parameswaran, Global Co-Chair of DLA Piper's Corporate Group. “These new appointments will add important bench strength to the Corporate and Finance Projects Restructuring Practice Groups as well as our Infrastructure and Energy sector offerings. Steven and Paul are both market-leading partners with huge experience in these sectors,” Parameswaran stated.

Colin Wilson, Global Co-Chair of DLA Piper’s Finance Projects Restructuring Group (FPR) added: “Derwin has a fantastic track record built around market-leading Infra Financing transactions which chimes perfectly with DLA Piper’s own focus in this area. The three joining us further builds on our existing strong offering in these key sectors and we are excited about them contributing to the firm’s continuing success.”
