Reed Smith Appoints Prajakt Samant as New Asia-Pacific Managing Partner
Prajakt Samant, an energy lawyer based in London, has been appointed as the new Asia-Pacific managing partner and relocated to the region by American global law firm Reed Smith.
Samant succeeds Kyri Evagora, a commercial and international disputes specialist who had held the Asia-Pacific role since 2020 and has since relocated to Reed Smith's London office.
According to Samant, who will now be based in Singapore, Asia remains a crucial region for the firm and presents substantial opportunities for both the firm and its clients.
“My initial focus will be working with the partners in Asia to deepen client relationships and enhance connectivity across the region, and also across the firm’s wider global footprint,” Samant said.
After joining Reed Smith in 2014, Samant became the global chair of the firm’s energy and natural resources industry group from 2017 until 2023. With over 22 years of experience, he primarily represents banks, exchanges, hedge funds, and energy and commodity companies in transactional, cross-border regulatory, compliance, and risk management matters pertaining to the energy and commodities sector.
