Toby Parkinson has joined Kirkland & Ellis to boost the law firm's transactions coverage. The M&A specialist will co-lead the expansion in the European energy and infrastructure sector.
Parkinson's arrival is the latest in a string of hires across Kirkland's London team. His practice focuses on domestic and cross-border infrastructure, energy, and renewables deals.
Jon Ballis, the chairman of Kirkland's executive committee, commented, "Parkinson is recognized as one of the top infrastructure M&A lawyers in the market. Together with our other recent infrastructure hires and leading private equity M&A team, he will further enhance our infrastructure transaction capability in Europe."
Andrew Calder, a member of Kirkland's executive committee, remarked, "We are committed to building the premier energy and infrastructure practice in Europe to meet the needs of our sponsor clients looking to deploy infrastructure capital on a global scale. Parkinson is another important piece of that puzzle."
Parkinson had joined the Magic Circle firm Clifford Chance as a trainee in 2006, working his way up to senior associate. This followed a three-year stint in-house at OMERS Infrastructure Management, the infrastructure investment arm of Canadian pension fund OMERS. In 2019, he re-joined Clifford Chance as a partner.
