To unveil Clyde & Co's 14th APAC base, partner Ian Johnston and legal director Sorawat Wongkaweepairot join from Kennedys' closed Bangkok office
UK insurance giant Clyde & Co has hired a pair of lawyers from Kennedys' shut down Bangkok office for launching in Thailand.
Ian Johnston, Arbitration partner, has joined the firm along with Sorawat Wongkaweepairot, Legal Director after Kennedys closed down its Bangkok office in October month-end with subsequent a review of its Thailand operations.
According to Clyde, it has launched in Thailand to provide insurance advice to local and international insurers and reinsurers in the city as also for Thai disagreements litigation services and arbitration services on international and Thai disputes.
Simon McConnell, partner and chair of Clydes' APAC board said, "The Bangkok market is an important one for our regional and global insurer clients and many energy, construction and transportation clients. Joining Clyde & Co, Johnston and Wongkaweepairot will enable as part of our growth strategy to work with our practitioners across ASEAN, for the benefit of their practices and our clients."
With widespread dispute resolution involvement, Johnston is an international arbitration specialist. He has worked in Asian markets for more than 20 years. His practice focuses on demonstrating insurers, energy companies, developers, construction professionals and contractors in disagreements in Asia and beyond the region being qualified doubly in England & Wales and Hong Kong,.
Meanwhile, most recent senior associate at Kennedys, Wongkaweepairot brings in skill in commercial litigation and commercial transactions.
The new office, will give Clydes its 14th base in Asia-Pacific will open, subject to regulatory approval. It presently houses almost 300 lawyers including 58 partners.
