Fitch Group Names New GC and Chief Compliance Officer for Fitch Ratings

Fitch Group has announced the appointment of Bruce Legorburu as General Counsel and Heather Merrigan as Chief Compliance Officer for Fitch Ratings.

While Legorburu will be responsible for leading the company's legal team and providing counsel on a wide range of legal issues for Fitch Group, its subsidiaries and affiliates, while Merrigan will be responsible for ensuring that the company complies with all relevant laws and regulations.

Legorburu, who has been with Fitch since 2013, will also be a member of the Fitch Group Executive Committee. He has served as the Chief Compliance Officer for Fitch Ratings since 2019.

Merrigan, who previously worked for Duff & Phelps in Chicago since 1998, joined Fitch's Legal team in New York in 2000. She has served as Head of Compliance for the Americas since 2019.

Charles D. (Charlie) Brown, who has served as Fitch's General Counsel for nearly 25 years, is retiring from the firm. In addition to serving as General Counsel, Brown was Fitch Ratings' Chief Compliance Officer and Chief Credit Officer at various points during his tenure.
