It will combine their television networks, digital assets and streaming platforms

Zee Entertainment Enterprises, including Bangla Entertainment, has merged with Sony Pictures Networks. The move will see Zee and Sony combining their television networks, digital assets and libraries and streaming platforms to create the country's largest broadcaster.

An Indian media conglomerate, headquartered in Mumbai, Zee has interests in television, print, Internet, film, mobile content and allied businesses. It operates 45 channels worldwide.

The consensus between the two companies came after a few months of discussions.

Trilegal, an Indian law firm, represented Zee in its union with Sony, a Japanese company.

The firm's corporate practice group partners Nishant Parikh and Harsh Maggon led the deal. Others in the team included Ankit Kejriwal (corporate partner), Nisha Kaur Uberoi (national head of the competition practice), Nikhil Narendran (technology), Atul Gupta (employment), Shruti Rajan (financial regulatory), Nitesh Jain (disputes), Tine Abraham (disputes), Kunal Gupta (disputes) and Gautam Chawla (competition).

Numerous other attorneys were also a part of the Trilegal deal team.

Another legal giant Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co was also involved in the transaction, representing Sony Pictures and Bangla Entertainment.
