Justice Prakash Shrivastava appointed Chairperson of NGT

He will take the reins from acting chairperson Justice Sheo Kumar Singh

Justice Prakash Shrivastava, the former Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court, has been appointed chairperson of the National Green Tribunal (NGT).

He shall take over the role from Justice Sheo Kumar Singh, who was recently appointed as the acting chairperson of the tribunal, following the retirement of Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel, the former chairperson.

Born on 31 March 1961, Justice Shrivastava enrolled as an advocate in 1987. He practiced in tax, civil, and constitutional law at the Supreme Court.

On 18 January 2008, he was appointed the additional judge of the Madhya Pradesh High Court and on 15 January 2010 became a permanent judge.

From 11 October 2021 till his retirement on 30 March 2023, Justice Shrivastava served as the Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court.
