Indian Government Clears Appointments of 11 Permanent Judges for Punjab and Haryana High Court
On Wednesday, the Indian government approved the appointment of 11 additional judges of the Punjab and Haryana High Court to be permanent judges.
Arjun Ram Meghwal, Union Minister of State for Law and Justice, announced this development on (Twitter).
Justices Nidhi Gupta, Sanjay Vashisth, Tribhuvan Dahiya, Namit Kumar, Harkesh Manuja, Aman Chaudhary, Naresh Singh @ Naresh Singh Shekhawat, Harsh Bunger, Jagmohan Bansal, Deepak Manchanda, and Alok Jain @ Alok Kumar Jain have been appointed as permanent judges.
On September 14, the Supreme Court Collegium recommended the appointment of the 11 judges listed above as permanent judges of the High Court.
On August 16, 2022, all 11 judges were appointed as additional judges.
The Punjab and Haryana High Court is currently operating with 58 judges, while its sanctioned strength is 85.
