Delhi RERA orders builders to set up ‘Allottee Grievance Cell’

Directs realtors to comply with the orders by 30 September

The Delhi Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) has directed real estate promoters and builders of the national capital to set up an 'Allottee Grievance Cell' for each project, with a dedicated telephone number to redress grievances of the allottees.

It has ordered them to prominently display the names, addresses, and RERA registration numbers of the projects, at the construction site of each project.

The three-member authority comprising Anand Kumar, Ajay Kuhar, and Devesh Singh, has directed all realtors to comply with the orders by 30 September 2023. The order read, “Any failure to do so will be viewed as a contravention of the Act which can invite penalty under Section 61 of the Act.”

Under the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016, if a promoter of a real estate firm defaults to the provisions, rules, or regulations, it invites a penalty. The maximum is up to five percent of the estimated cost of a real estate project.
