Eversheds Sutherland Strengthens Saudi Presence with Musab Aljammaz Hire and Joint Venture with AlDhabaan & Partners

Eversheds Sutherland
has welcomed Musab Aljammaz as a Partner in its Riyadh office, marking a significant move as the firm strengthens its long-standing relationship with AlDhabaan & Partners through a new joint venture in Saudi Arabia. Aljammaz, a former Head of the Legislation Office at Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Justice, brings a wealth of expertise in legal and regulatory compliance. He has played an instrumental role in shaping the Kingdom's legal framework, having drafted several pivotal laws, including the Civil Transactions Law, Regulations for Licensing Foreign Law Firms, Lawyers Rules of Conduct, and the Civil Enforcement Law.

“Through this pioneering offering and legal capability development, I aim to contribute to the realisation of my country’s 2030 Vision by enhancing the availability of sophisticated and innovative legal services in Saudi Arabia,”
Aljammaz said in a statement. Alongside Aljammaz's hire, Eversheds has formalised its 13-year association with AlDhabaan & Partners, solidifying the partnership with a joint venture that will further strengthen its presence in the Kingdom.

Mohammad Al Dhabaan,
Founder and Chairman of AlDhabaan & Partners, remarked, “I am pleased that the extension of our agreement with Eversheds Sutherland continues, following our longstanding and close professional relationship with them since 2011.” He added,

“Additionally, it signifies our commitment to attract and retain exceptional legal talents, including new Partner Musab Aljammaz, to achieve our goals and meet the aspirations of our clients in alignment with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.”

As part of the strategic expansion, Eversheds has relocated John Kemkers, a Litigation and Disputes Partner and Head of the firm’s Africa group, to Riyadh. Kemkers will serve as Senior Office Partner for the joint venture firm. “I am very pleased to have relocated to Saudi Arabia,” said Kemkers. “It is one of the fastest changing countries in the world and a fascinating and dynamic place to work. My continuing role as Head of the Africa group will also support the longstanding links between the Middle East and Africa and I can better take advantage of those links from Riyadh.”

Eversheds’ Riyadh
office now comprises around 40 lawyers, including eight Partners, reflecting the firm’s ongoing investment in the Kingdom, which has become one of the world’s busiest legal markets due to regulatory and economic changes. The firm's continued growth comes at a time when Saudi Arabia is actively fostering legal and business innovation in line with its Vision 2030.

In September, Dentons also strengthened its Saudi presence, hiring Abdullah Alsulaimi, the former Legal Advisor to Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Justice, as a Partner.
