Jingtian & Gongcheng has added four new partners to its legal team to enhance its services. The new partners include Nie Yanping and Wang Bei in Shanghai, Fan Qingdong in Beijing, and Wang Yu who will work on legal issues in both cities.
Previously a partner at AnJie Broad Law Firm and recognised as one of the Rising Stars in 2021 by China Business Law Journal, Wang Yu specialises in investment, M&A, PE/VC, corporate law, and capital markets.
Wang Yu has provided counsel to numerous private equity funds regarding both domestic and cross-border equity investments, as well as domestic and overseas exits. Additionally, he has assisted companies at various stages of development, including startups, growth-stage businesses, and pre-IPO companies, in raising funds through equity, convertible bonds, and warrants, both in China and abroad.
With her expertise in litigation and arbitration, Nie Yanping specialises in matters concerning corporate governance, M&A, and commercial contract disputes. She has provided assistance to corporate securities in managing contract disputes and advised listed companies on valuation adjustment mechanisms and strike cases.
Furthermore, Nie has represented several universities in suspending cooperation with commercial entities and restructuring their affiliations.
Wang Bei has extensive knowledge and experience in labour law and employment-related matters. She is well-versed in legal compliance, employment planning, and implementation, regulations, remuneration design, layoffs, executive incentives, and trade secret protection.
Nie Yanping and Wang Bei had previously served as senior partners at Hiways Law Firm.
Fan Qingdong, who specialises in criminal law, served as a prosecutor at the Anti-Corruption Bureau of the First Branch of the People's Procuratorate of Beijing Municipality from 2010 to 2016. During his tenure, he handled more than 70 special cases related to various organizations, including the National Energy Administration, China Guodian Corporation, China Unicom, the Beijing Traffic Management Bureau, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and China South Industries Group.
Before joining Jingtian & Gongcheng, Fan Qingdong was an equity partner at Zhong Wen Law Firm and gained experience in handling high-profile cases. He has defended notable figures such as Jiang Yunming, the former supervisor of Industrial Bank, and the former vice president of Yingkou Coastal Bank, who was involved in a case with a sum of over RMB24 billion.
