DLA Piper Elects Charles Severs as New International Managing Partner
DLA Piper, a multinational law firm with offices around the world, has announced the election of Charles Severs as its new international managing partner, effective January 1, 2025. Severs, a seasoned lawyer with extensive experience in leadership roles, will succeed Simon Levine who will be stepping down after a decade of leading the firm. Levin will now serve in a new role as a strategic innovation partner.
Severs, a partner based in London, joined DLA Piper in 2003 from legacy firm Herbert Smith and has since held various leadership positions within the firm, demonstrating his strong leadership qualities and strategic vision. He has served as managing director for groups, managing director for Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa, and a member of the firm's executive management team. Throughout his tenure, he has played a key role in the firm's growth and success.
Severs is a highly respected corporate lawyer with a focus on cross-border mergers and acquisitions for both public and private companies, particularly in the technology, media, and telecommunications sectors. His impressive client list includes well-known names such as Symphony Technology, Keller Group, and SDL, whom he advised on their merger with RWS, one of the largest UK tech acquisitions of 2020.
Severs' appointment comes at a time of continued growth and expansion for DLA Piper. Under Simon Levine's leadership, the firm has seen significant increases in revenue and profit, while also strengthening its presence across various practice groups, geographies, and sectors. Severs' extensive experience and proven leadership skills position him well to lead DLA Piper into the future and build upon the firm's strong foundation.
