AZB Launches Dedicated Taiwan Desk; Aarthi Sivanandh to Head The New Desk

Prominent Indian law firm AZB & Partners has announced the launching of a Taiwan desk, recognising the growing significance of Taiwan as a trading partner of India. The desk will be led by Aarthi Sivanandh, who heads the firm’s Chennai office.

In a statement, AZB said that they have established a dedicated Taiwan desk to support Indian businesses seeking to conduct operations in Taiwan and to assist Taiwanese clients in entering strategic collaborations, technical partnerships, and other business arrangements in India.

“Taiwan actively promotes the ‘New Southbound Policy,’ assisting businesses in diversifying overseas and considers India a crucial partner and India has sought to cultivate extensive ties with Taiwan as part of its ‘Look East’ policy, in trade and investment,” AZB, which is a 600-lawyer firm, stated.

The objectives of AZB’s Taiwan desk include building regional partnerships with other law firms to understand local laws and regulations, creating a resource network through participation in industry forums and associations, and navigating cultural complexities to facilitate smoother people-to-people exchanges.

Aarthi Sivanandh, who established AZB’s Chennai office last year, underlined that a successful approach strategy for stakeholders in the India-Taiwan corridor requires sound legal counsel who are attuned to the nuances of doing business in the Global South.

With Southern India being a key hub for Taiwanese business in sectors including electronics, technology, petrochemicals, steel, shipping, footwear manufacturing, automotive components, and construction, AZB's dedicated Taiwan desk is designed to specifically support clients within these industries.
