Ashurst has announced partnering with legal Artificial Intelligence (AI) platform Harvey to boost its functions.

It intends to roll out the system worldwide to its over 4,000 lawyers and business services staff following an extensive trial, a part of the firm’s broader digital transformation efforts.

Unlike public AI models, Harvey has been trained specifically on legal data, supporting areas including document review, due diligence, drafting and market research.

Tara Waters, the chief digital officer at Ashurst stated, “Generative AI is here to stay. This is another step our firm is taking to ensure its people and clients can leverage the full potential of the new technology.”

She added, “We are committed to not only demystify but harness the value of AI and deliver best-in-class service. Our partnership with Harvey is a significant step towards this, empowering our people with the digital, data and technology capabilities that will help us to achieve our 2027 strategy.”

Paul Jenkins, the global CEO of Ashurst commented, “It takes meticulous planning, testing and foresight to have the confidence to roll out Harvey across every jurisdiction and part of the business. It’s important for our business and clients that we leverage the best technology on offer, to work efficiently.”

He added that it would help optimize and streamline the firm’s workflow and services and create innovative opportunities.

Speaking on the association, Winston Weinberg, the co-founder and CEO of Harvey remarked, “We appreciate Ashurst’s feedback and evaluation process and are excited to formalize our partnership across Ashurst’s 4,000 lawyers and staff. This underscores the law firm’s innovative approach and our commitment to delivering AI solutions optimized for the most rigorous legal use cases. It will enable Ashurst’s teams to achieve new levels of efficiency.”

Harvey has been adopted by law firms including A&O Shearman, O’Melveny & Myers, CMS, Vinson & Elkins and Reed Smith.
