The US employment law giant Littler has opened its third office in Mexico in the industrial city of Saltillo. As part of the move, the firm will have offices in Mexico City and Monterrey for the tenth anniversary of its Mexico launch.
It said the city in Coahuila, a state in north-eastern Mexico, was home to several clients in the automotive, aerospace, pharmaceuticals and agricultural sectors.
The managing shareholder of Littler's Mexico offices, León Rodrguez, has taken over the office with assistance from fellow shareholders Monica Schiaffino, David Leal, Tania Terrazas and Jorge Sales.
"We are well established in Mexico City and Monterrey and well known in Saltillo," he said. In addition, having a physical office in close proximity to our clients and local courts is invaluable."
One associate, Alondra Valdez Padilla, will work at the office permanently, while two others, Luis Héctor Cortés Salazar and Rogelio Alanis Robles, will split their time between the new office and the firm's Monterrey office.
Littler's Mexico team, which includes 22 lawyers, gained a boost in June 2021 when it hired shareholder Jorge Sales Boyoli, who served as founding partner and managing director of the boutique employment law firm Bufete Sales Boyoli in Mexico City.
The three were joined by associates Jesús S. Escárcega Martínez, Erik Daniel García Coronel and Valeria Cutipa Hernández, along with a law clerk.
The office launch follows last week's hiring by Greenberg Traurig of seven Holland & Knight lawyers to set up an employment practice in Mexico City.
As of last month, Littler has a presence in Portugal through a tie-up with boutique law firm DCM Lawyers. This is its 12th European country.
