Squire Patton Boggs has hired senior partner Carlos Blanco Morillo, along with a team of three – senior associate Javier Arenas, and associates Elena Ferrer and Íñigo Oliván, as it continues to build its pan-European corporate bench in Dublin, Frankfurt and Milan.
Earlier working at RocaJunyent, Morillo led its Madrid corporate, M&A, private equity, and venture capital teams and was an office managing partner from 2017-2020. Prior to that, he founded and led the corporate law boutique firm, Blanco & Silva.
Paul Mann, the European head of private equity at Squire Patton Boggs, remarked, "Morillo is a recognized private equity specialist with 15 years of experience at the highest levels of Spanish domestic and international corporate transactions."
Morillo is the fourth private equity partner to join Squire since the summer. The firm's European private equity team has trebled over the last 18 months, with the corporate group now comprising more than 60 lawyers, including 35 partners. The Madrid office of one of the top 50 US firms, has a total headcount of 75, including 20 corporate lawyers.
