Singhania & Co Strengthens Corporate and Indirect Tax Practice with New Hires

Singhania & Co, one of the leading Indian law firms, has added K Venkata Ramana as a partner and Kamal Aggarwal as a senior adviser to strengthen their corporate and indirect tax practice.

Based in Mumbai, Ramana is a certified insolvency professional and independent director who will strengthen Singhania & Co's corporate practice.

Ramana brings with him a wealth of experience from his three-decade-long career, which includes working as group vice-president (legal) and group company secretary at Cummins India, and adviser (legal & secretarial) at Blue Star. He has also worked for several other notable companies such as Sun Pharma, DLF, Future Retail, and Bharti Airtel International. Ramana's expertise lies in advising on a variety of areas, such as business contract management, litigation management, legal compliance, M&A, and insolvency and bankruptcy laws, among others.

“The firm is quite active in the African markets and Venkata believes that his rich hands-on experience of the African market during his stint with Airtel will help the firm to provide more practical solutions to clients in such markets and act as an advantage differentiator in favour of the firm,” Rohit Jain, Singania & co.’s co-managing partner said about Ramana’s new role.

Kamal Aggarwal, with a career spanning over 30 years, has been providing counsel on indirect tax issues pertaining to investment transactions, M&A, due diligence, and litigations, as well as handling matters related to foreign trade policy, customs duty, and GST. He has previously worked with leading professional services firms such as PwC, Deloitte, KPMG, and EY.

Singhania & Co.'s other managing partner, Pradeep Kumar Jain, stated that the firm has expanded its offerings by adding three new practice areas (criminal litigation, private client practice, tax advisory and litigation) and opened a new office in Ahmedabad within the past 12 months.

“The addition of K Venkata and Kamal is another step towards the growth target of the firm,” Pradeep Kumar Jain said.
