King & Spalding Boosts Business Litigation Practice Group With Three New Partners

Jennifer Recine, Sarmad Khojasteh and David Kupfer Boost the Firm’s Offerings in Real Estate Litigation and Complex Commercial Litigation

King & Spalding has announced the appointment of Jennifer Recine, Sarmad Khojasteh and David Kupfer have joined the firm’s Business Litigation practice group as partners. They are based in the firm’s New York office.

All the three are joining the firm from Kasowitz Benson Torres, where they practiced together as partners.

“Jennifer, Sarmad and David are formidable litigators who have grown impressive practices in real estate litigation and a wide variety of other complex commercial litigation,” said Damien Marshall, Co-Chair of the firm’s Business Litigation practice group. “There are strong synergies between their practices and ours that will enable us to together deepen many client relationships across our platform and continue to expand our litigation practice.”

Jennifer Recine

At Kasowitz, Recine co-chaired the real estate litigation practice and brings extensive experience as a first-chair trial lawyer handling complex commercial, real estate, land use, and environmental disputes. Her clientele includes private corporations, publicly traded companies, governmental bodies, and high-net-worth individuals. She also has a strong background in civil RICO actions, securities litigation, professional malpractice, and high-stakes matters. Recine earned her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center and her undergraduate degree from the University of Vermont.

Sarmad Khojasteh

Khojasteh’s practice focuses on resolving complex business disputes across various areas, such as securities, commercial contracts, corporate governance, and general commercial matters. He regularly appears before federal and state courts nationwide, representing clients from diverse industries including finance, real estate, pharmaceuticals, and technology. Khojasteh holds a J.D. from the University of Chicago School of Law and an undergraduate degree from Colgate University.

David Kupfer

Kupfer is a seasoned trial attorney with vast expertise in handling intricate commercial disputes and advocating for both plaintiffs and defendants in civil and criminal cases, along with regulatory investigations. He has successfully represented a wide range of clients, including financial institutions, life sciences, technology companies, venture capital and private equity funds, and real estate enterprises, in bankruptcy proceedings, state and federal court litigation, as well as arbitration. He earned his J.D. from Fordham Law School and completed his undergraduate studies at Touro College.

On the appointment Recine said, “David, Sarmad and I are excited to bring our practices to King & Spalding.
