The US trust and estates boutique Harrison & Held has taken the easiest route to establish national practice by hiring services of 11 private client partners from Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner (BCLP).
The firm is in the process of opening its offices in Atlanta, Denver, St Louis and Edwardsville in its bid to establish a pan-US presence.
Harrison & Held's US hires follow on from the arrival of partner Michael Bland from BCLP back in December 2020.
Partners Kimberly Civins, Brent Howard, Tiffany McKenzie, Linsey Glosier, Stephanie Moll Kriegel, Stephen Daiker, Steve Dawson, Jarriot Rook, Alan Singer and Dyke Arboneaux join Bland at Harrison & Held. Besides, one counsel and one associate are also moving across from BCLP to Harrison & Held.
"Because of people's change of domicile these days, it's incredibly important to be national in your estate-planning practice. This is our drive to create, really, the only nation estate planning practice in the US," Louis Harrison, founding partner of Harrison & Held told a news agency.
"In the US, each state has its own laws and taxes and it is really useful to have colleagues who are qualified to practise in those jurisdictions," Kriegel, who is now based in the Harrison & Held's Denver office, said while adding that the team was attracted by firm's US expansion plans.
The hires boost the attorney count at the firm, which was founded in 2012, to more than 60. It already has offices in Naples, Springfield and Boulder, while its Chicago office serves as the firm's headquarters.
The US exit of partners follows a string of departures from BCLP's London office. The firm has witnessed large scale departures over the last few months that has reduced its tally of partners to 19 including 14 in the US.
