Clifford Chance appoints Adam Hedley as an ESG partner in London

He has been working with Reed Smith on international, environmental, carbon, and climate change law matters

International law firm Clifford Chance has announced that Adam Hedley will be joining the firm as an environmental and ESG partner in December-end.

His appointment reflects the firm's continued investment in its global ESG expertise and client support, which spans a range of practices and sectors, bringing additional strength to the firm's global environment group. It relates to climate change and carbon trading, environment, health and safety governance, and product compliance and liability offers.

Hedley has been serving at Reed Smith's ESG and environmental practice.

Nigel Howorth, the head of the global environmental group stated, "At a time when businesses on the global stage are understanding how to best mitigate the environmental impact of their operations and value chains, Adam is a brilliant addition to our team. His appointment supports our drive to further strengthen the firm's depth of climate and sustainability resources, to continue to meet demand in a rapidly changing area of law."

Hedley added, "It is a pleasure to be joining a team with such hands-on technical knowledge and decades of deep experience. I feel energized to be joining at such a pivotal time in the ESG journey for so many businesses and look forward to working across the broad Clifford Chance network."

Hedley focuses on climate change adaptation and mitigation projects; climate-related corporate reporting; carbon offsetting and neutrality objectives; renewables and alternative/sustainable fuels regulation, compliance, and incentive schemes; and compliance with the myriad of environmental laws on environmental damage, pollution, waste and extended producer responsibility. Recently, he advised one of the largest global cloud platforms on EHS governance work and product compliance.

Clifford Chance supports a diversified client base facing challenges posed by ever-stricter national, and international environmental and ESG regulations and requirements. It also deals with the opportunities and risks of the transition to a low-carbon economy.
