AnnElyse Scarlett Gains joins Gibson Dunn as Corporate Restructuring and Reorganization partner in D.C.

AnnElyse Scarlett Gains, who specializes in corporate reorganization and restructuring, has been named as partner at Gibson Dunn & Crutcher LLP's Washington, D.C. office.

Greta B. Williams, Co-Partner in Charge of Gibson Dunn's Washington, D.C. office, remarked, 'AnnElyse is a fabulous addition to the Gibson Dunn team." As a well-known and experienced attorney, she will be a great asset to our team as we work to restructure and reorganize our company.'

The business restructuring and reorganization practice group at Gibson Dunn is thrilled to have AnnElyse on board, according to Scott J. Greenberg, global co-chair of the group. "Our practice will benefit immediately from her extensive background in both large complicated restructurings and the distressed finance market. The uncertain economic forecast confronting a number of company sectors today has increased the need for our services, and by adding someone like AnnElyse's calibre, we can be rest assured that can continue to have the bandwidth to meet that need," he added.

Gains expressed her excitement about starting the next phase of her career with Gibson Dunn. "I chose the firm because of its incredibly collaborative atmosphere, but it also has a strong restructuring and reorganization practice that has a stellar reputation in the market and will provide me with the perfect foundation as I continue to grow my business. Helping our clients reach their business goals will be a team effort, and I'm excited to get started with my new co-workers," she mentioned.

Gains specializes in acquisitions, out-of-court restructurings and Chapter 11 cases where firms need representation for corporate restructurings, distressed financing, liability management transactions, recapitalizations, and other special situation transactions. She counsels investors, purchasers, and other stakeholders assessing strategic deals with target companies under real or future economic crises, as well as boards of directors, board committees, and senior management on a wide variety of problems, such as fiduciary duties and corporate governance.

At the University Of Illinois College Of Law, Gains earned her J.D. in 2013 and was named as Harno Scholar and a Lincoln Scholar. She also served as Associate Editor of the Journal of Law, Technology & Policy. She got her start in the legal field as an intern for Judge Peter J. Walsh on the bench of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware right after she graduated from law school.
