Clifford Chance Advised On $100 Million Digital Asset Joint Venture In UAE
International law firm Clifford Chance has advised Chartered’s innovation, fintech investment, and ventures arm SC Ventures on its joint venture with SBI Holdings, a Japanese financial conglomerate. The objective of this collaboration is to establish a digital asset joint venture investment company in the United Arab Emirates.
The strategic joint venture aims to invest in a diverse range of companies operating within the digital assets landscape. These include areas such as market infrastructure, risk and compliance tools, decentralised finance (DeFi), tokenisation, consumer payments, and even ventures related to the Metaverse.
The joint venture partners have ambitious plans to make global investments, spanning from seed-stage funding to Series C rounds. To fuel this endeavour, they intend to capitalise on the venture vehicle with $100 million.
The Clifford Chance team handling the transaction was jointly led by Dubai-based partners Deniz Tas and Jack Hardman, with support from senior associates Gareth Dray, Mhairi Cruickshank, and Tom Lloyd, along with associate Josh Morrison.
