Memery Crystal Advised Oberoi Hotels & Resorts on Entry into the UK Hospitality Market

Indian luxury hotel brand Oberoi Hotels & Resorts, operated by EIH London Investments Limited, has announced its expansion into the UK market with plans to open its first boutique hotel in London’s prestigious Mayfair district. This milestone acquisition is part of Grosvenor’s £500m South Molton Triangle redevelopment, a mixed-use project featuring Offices, Housing, Cafes, Shops, Restaurants, and Leisure Spaces.

The new 28-room Luxury Hotel, situated at 40-46 Brook Street, will occupy a Grade II-listed building undergoing restoration as part of the development, with its grand opening planned for late 2027. Located just a two-minute walk from Claridge’s, the property underscores Oberoi’s strategy to bring its signature personalised hospitality to one of the world’s most exclusive markets.

The deal was led by Memery Crystal’s Real Estate team, with Matthew Lindsay, Co-Head of the Banking & Finance Practice, taking the lead. The property aspects of the transaction were coordinated by Real Estate Partners Sam Silverman and Matthew Hind, with support from Associate Anukrit Bhargava and Solicitor Karkay Lee. Matthew Lindsay remarked, “We are very pleased to have worked alongside our Real Estate practice on yet another sizeable hotel acquisition, and wish Oberoi all the best with this exciting new venture in a prime London location.”

Grosvenor’s Legal Counsel,
Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner (BCLP), was led by Real Estate Partner Chris Rowe, supported by Associate Director Elasah Mastin and Senior Associate Naomi Emerton. Oberoi Group’s Executive Chairman, Arjun Oberoi, highlighted the importance of this project: “This partnership with Grosvenor marks a significant milestone in our international growth. London has always been a key market, and we are thrilled to bring our distinctive hospitality to Mayfair.”

The Oberoi Group, established in 1934 with its first hotel in Shimla, India, currently operates 32 Hotels and Two Luxury Nile River Cruisers across seven countries.

As Oberoi forges ahead with this project, the group reaffirms its commitment to combining Heritage Luxury with Contemporary Experiences, solidifying its reputation as a leader in the global hospitality industry.
