Cravath, Milbank, CC guide on aircraft lessor deal
Japan's SMBC Aviation Capital was advised by Cravath, Swaine & Moore and Milbank with Clifford Chance representing the sellers, on its $6.7 billion acquisition of rival aircraft lessor Goshawk Aviation from NWS Holdings and Chow Tai Fook Enterprises
According to Reuters, The deal comes during a strong recovery period of the global airline industry and after six months of Ireland's AerCap Holdings combined its position through its takeover of General Electric's leasing business as the world's largest aircraft lessor.
Reuters further mentioned that the securing of the smaller rival would create a joint company with $38.5 billion in assets, which according to SMBC Aviation Capital would make it the world's second largest aircraft lessor by taking along its total fleet to 709.
O. Keith Hallam III and Daniel J. Cerqueira headed the Cravath team, while partner James Cameron headed the Milbank team.
With supporting partner, Ranbir Hunjan, the Clifford Chance team was headed by Virginia Lee.
