Founder of Luthra & Luthra Law Offices- Rajiv Luthra Passes Away
The Founder and Managing Partner of Luthra and Luthra Law Offices, Rajiv Luthra has passed away due to an ailment at the age of 67.
The firm in its statement said that, “It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we inform of the demise of our beloved Founder and Managing Part Luthra. A visionary, philanthropist, a benevolent soul and a heart full of love and forgiveness, Mr. Luthra was an accomplished lawyer and an incredible human.”
He had founded Luthra & Luthra in 1990, which went on to become one of the largest corporate law firms in India.
Luthra started his law journey by attaining his law degree from the Delhi University at the age of 31 and seven years after he began to qualify as a chartered accountant.
He further took up a few courses at Harvard Law School over the span of seven years and went on to study the emerging areas in law.
Subsequently, opportunities opened up for him to practise project finance as well as mergers and acquisitions. Luthra himself, specialised in project finance as well as public private partnerships.
He had over 30 years of experience in advising clients on a vast range of complex commercial transactions including infrastructure projects in India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, People's Republic of China, Nepal and Nigeria.
In the past he had successfully handled various disinvestment, privatization and restructuring assignments and has worked on some of the largest mergers in Indian corporate history and further appointed by the Government of India on the drafting of several rules and regulations.
“He will be remembered for his magnanimity, ethics, leadership and larger-than-life personality and will be greatly missed by all. On behalf of all the members of the Firm, we extend our deepest condolences to Mr. Luthra’s family and stand by them in these difficult times”, the firm added in its statement.
