Former Supreme Court judge Justice SC Agrawal is no more

Justice Agrawal - who served as Supreme Court judge from 1990 to 1998 – breathed his last on Wednesday. He was 87.

His mortal remains were kept at his Neeti Bagh residence and then ferried to the Nigambodh Ghat electric crematorium for cremation at 4 PM.

Justice Agrawal was born on September 5, 1933 and enrolled in the district court of Jaipur as pleader in 1952 and as a lawyer of the Rajasthan High Court in 1955. He was called from the Middle Temple to the Bar in England in 1957 and enrolled as a Supreme Court advocate in 1959 where he practiced until 1978.

Elevated to the Bench of Rajasthan High Court as an Additional Judge on June 15, 1978, he was made a permanent Judge of the High Court on June 14, 1980.

Appointed as a Judge of the Supreme Court on January 11, 1990, he demitted office on September 4, 1998.
