The bilateral engagements will usher in advancements in India's trade relations with major international partners
On the sidelines of the G7 trade ministers' meeting at Reggio Calabria in Italy, the Indian Commerce and Industry minister, Piyush Goyal held bilateral discussions for deeper economic ties on free trade agreements (FTAs) with his counterparts from the UK and the European Union (EU).
While congratulating Jonathan Reynolds, UK Secretary of State for Business and Trade on his appointment, Goyal discussed the deepening of bilateral economic relations. It included plans to forward the discussions on the FTAs between India and the UK.
The Indian Union minister also held discussions with Valdis Dombrovskis, the executive vice president of the European Commission. The talks focused on promoting India-EU trade and economic collaborations, including the ongoing FTA negotiations. They explored opportunities to strengthen cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
In Goyal’s discussions with Antonio Tajani, Italy's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the lawmakers agreed to enhance bilateral trade and investments, industrial co-production, and cooperation in clean technologies.
In his talks with the Minister of Trade, New Zealand, Todd McClay, the Indian minister discussed opportunities to enhance bilateral trade and investment ties for mutual growth. The consultations aimed at furthering the existing strong trade relationship between the two countries.
He also met Robert Habeck, the federal minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Action in Germany. They deliberated on opportunities to elevate the growing Indo-German trade and economic partnership. The leaders focused on the upcoming Inter-Governmental Consultations and the Asia-Pacific Conference of German Business in New Delhi.
