Monte Carlo Fashions Settles Trademark Dispute With Skoda Auto India

Monte Carlo Fashions Ltd., a prominent clothing company, has reached a settlement agreement with Skoda Auto India, resolving a year-long Trademark dispute over the use of the "Monte Carlo" name. The agreement, announced on Monday, concludes legal proceedings initiated by Monte Carlo Fashions in a Delhi court against Skoda Auto India for using the "Monte Carlo" trademark in connection with a limited-edition car model.

As per the settlement, Skoda Auto India has secured a license from Monte Carlo Fashions Ltd. to use the "Monte Carlo" trademark exclusively within India. This license pertains specifically to the marketing and sale of Skoda's "Monte Carlo" edition cars, along with related accessories and spare parts. Additionally, Skoda is authorized to utilize the trademark on packaging, promotional materials, and advertising associated with these products.

Rishabh Oswal, Executive Director of Monte Carlo Fashions, described the settlement as a favorable resolution for both companies. "We have granted Skoda permission to market and sell its Monte Carlo edition automobiles under our brand name," Oswal stated. "This is a win-win solution for both companies."

Oswal emphasized that the agreement aims to set a precedent against future trademark infringements. "We expect this action will establish a precedent and encourage companies to be more cautious with trademark usage," he added.

This settlement marks the end of the legal dispute, enabling both Monte Carlo Fashions and Skoda Auto India to continue using the "Monte Carlo" name within the agreed terms, allowing each to leverage the brand effectively in their respective markets.
