On November 22, the Advocates' Association, High Court of Judicature at Allahabad unveiled an E-Library in the presence of eminent Judge of the Supreme Court of India, Justice Vineet Saran (Chief Guest), along with Justice Govind Mathur, Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court, in memory of late Shri P.P. Srivastava, Senior Advocate.
The E-Library is well equipped with the latest desktops, updated with SCC case finders, and is aimed at meeting the research requirements for the Bar members, lawyers, law clerks, as well as paralegals.
Hon’ble Justice Govind Mathur congratulated the Bar and appreciated the efforts of the Advocates’ Association for taking the initiative to equip the Library with the latest equipment, laws, and journals.
The event was graced by esteemed members of the Bar, including Senior Advocates Naveen Sinha, Pramod Kumar Jain, and W.H. Khan, and Mr. A.D. Saunders, President, Advocates’ Association Allahabad, and others. Mr. A.D. Saunders in his address thanked the Chief Guest, Justice Vineet Saran, Judge, Supreme Court of India, and Chief Justice Govind Mathur for taking time out to unveil the E-Library as the inauguration ceremony was held on the same day on which 28 Judges were administered oath as Additional Judges of the Allahabad High Court.
Shri P.P. Srivastava was distinguished not only in his unique professional attributes but also excelled as a human being through the many humanitarian activities that he performed of his own volition. In the year 2016, a Tribute site (www.tributetoppsrivastava.com) dedicated to his life and achievements was unveiled at the Sesquicentennial celebrations of the High Court at Allahabad by His Excellency Shri Keshari Nath Tripathi, Governor of West Bengal, in the august presence of Justice R.K. Agrawal (retd.) and Justice Ashok Bhushan, Judges of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India.
Shri P.P. Srivastava was widely recognized, appreciated, and acknowledged for his contribution to the legal fraternity. He successfully litigated innumerable cases, some of them being reported matters.
Shri P.P Srivastava first came to the national spotlight when he was engaged as Special Counsel in 1992 for the State in Civil, Criminal, Writs, and Constitutional service matters of important nature, including Babri Masjid matter. From 1995 to 1998, he served in the Office of Additional Advocate General for the State of U.P., during the first Mayawati government and President rule of the then Excellency, Shri Motilal Vora, Governor, Uttar Pradesh. In 1996, he was designated as Senior Advocate. He was the Founder Member of Advocates’ Association Allahabad. Later in 2007, he was unanimously elected as the President of the Advocates’ Association of the Allahabad High Court. He served the legal profession until his last days, till the age of 61. Throughout his life, he aided and advised many young lawyers to evolve in their profession. To many, he was a father figure who adored him as their compassionate mentor.
