The Stars of the Indian Legal Industry Shone Bright at the Legal Era Awards 2022-23 held in New Delhi
In an impactful awards ceremony on 15th April in the grand environs of Hotel ITC Maurya, New Delhi, Legal Era proudly hosted its flagship 12th Annual Legal Era Indian Legal Awards 2023. Attended by law and industry stalwarts across the globe, it was a much-awaited occasion to celebrate Legal Finesse, Innovation, and Accomplishments in the most impactful way - a unique mix of gravitas and gala.
The eminent Legal Era Awards Jury evaluated a staggering volume of entries from Legal Practitioners, In-House Teams, and Law Firms for thoroughness and sensitivity to 2022-23’s diverse circumstances and experiences. They also noted the incredible work by young lawyers.
The ceremony began with the Jury address by Justice B. N. Srikrishna, Former Judge, Supreme Court of India,
“The number of nominations keeps increasing! There were 2,540 nominations from different categories. Judging the nominations in each category for their accomplishments and selecting the best amongst them. I have done a lot of good judging in the Supreme Court, but this was much more difficult I tell you! The value of Legal Era Awards has increased so much in the fraternity that today one can say it is equivalent to Oscars and Grammys abroad.”
Justice Dipak Misra Chairperson of the Jury & selection panel made a heartfelt point to a loud applause, “This function is unforgettable because I don’t recollect any organization covering so many spectrums of categories and conferring awards on young, old, and celebrities. It was great privilege to be a member of the jury. Legal Era Team, and Ashok and Aakriti Raizada have spent quite a lot of time with dedication, emotion, and intellectual passion to cover so many categories. I wish to recognize the organization that is recognizing everyone.”
Ms Aakriti Raizada, Founder, Legal Era dedicated the Legal Era Indian Legal Awards 2023 as a festival to Celebrate the Togetherness of the Legal community worldwide.

The Award of the Evening was the “Visionary Leader of the Bar” given to Late Shri Nawal Kishore Anand, Founding Partner, Anand and Anand; Senior Counsel of the Year given to Sudipto Sarkar, Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of India; Legal Personality of the Year for Outstanding Excellence & Achievement given to Tushar Mehta, Solicitor General of India; The Legal Excellence Award for Outstanding Excellence & Achievement was conferred upon Sidharth Luthra, Senior Advocate Supreme Court of India; Hemant Kumar, Group General Counsel, Larsen & Toubro was honoured with the Leadership Excellence Award for Continuous Growth as In-House.
The Glorious 61 Years at the Bar was awarded to Dr. Lalit Bhasin, President Society of Indian Law Firms while K K Venugopal, Former Attorney General of India was felicitated with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Reminiscing his long journey of 61 years and what achievement means to him, Dr. Lalit Bhasin expressed, “Some people get notoriety. Some people get fame. I get the professional satisfaction of giving it back to the society and to the profession.”
